St. Louis in the summer

We have been very busy lately, so busy that I have forgotten to update this in awhile. One of the best things that happened is that we put an attic fan in on our roof. The house is so hot in summer-we get full sun all day-and it has helped a lot. Meredith and I had to watch from the yard to make sure Mike didn't fall off the roof. This was also the first time that I had heard Mike was afraid of heights. I managed to carry everything up there and Mike got 90% of it done, but couldn't manuever to get the last of the nails in so I finished and then tarred the remaining shingles. It was 95 degrees that day and while I managed to remember sunscreen for Meredith, both Mike and I walked away a little pinker.

Knitting at the Arch

Meredith and I trecked down to the Arch for the 2008 Knitting in Public with our friends Sally, Elinor and Lenora. It was a beautiful day, and we joined a few dozen knitters. Meredith was a hit, everyone was impressed by what a good baby she was, she never fussed, and even managed to catch a nap.

Raspberries

Meredith has begun to talking more and blow raspberries, which was fun and cute until she discovered she could do it with food in her mouth. There's nothing like a baby blowing raspberries with a mouth full of mashed potatos. Alas I didn't sacrifice my camera for that, but here's Meredith's thoughts on the day's events.

Crawling is for Chumps

Meredith has decided against crawling, and really why shouldn't she? She gets everywhere she needs to just fine using the butt shuffle. She's surprisingly fast and the diapers are great at cleaning the floor-bonus!

Stitch N' Pitch 2008

Meredith and I went to the Stitch n' Pitch game this week with friends. We had a great time and Mere lasted almost 4 innings, and I won a new knitting basket. Meredith loved it when everyone clapped, but hated Yadier Molina, or maybe it was just his choice of intro music.

Swim Class

So Meredith and I are taking swim classes every Saturday. As expected Meredith is the star pupil, and I'm not just saying that. While the others either just sit there or click to their parents, Meredith is swinging her arms and kicking her feet like crazy. And I won't even mention how cute her suit is. I suspect she may be a future olympian.

Happy Birthday Lao Lao

We all want to wish Lao Lao Jeanne (who hates to be called grandma) a Happy Birthday today. We won't say the number but it's a big one.
